There are three major ways that you can currently get involved with Athletes Combating Racism: volunteering your time, volunteering your company’s services, donating usable technology (laptops, iPads etc.)
We have put together a multifaceted approach to take action in our community. For us it’s all about creating a fun, safe, nurturing and vibrant atmosphere and experience for all youth in our community.
This program is designed to combat racism by providing mentorship and guidance to youth and young adults to help them navigate the world around them in spite of structural racism, and ultimately dismantle those structures.
Providing a safe space for youth of all backgrounds to come together to have fun, learn, and build relationships with mentors from the ACR community through activities such as: sports games, keynote speaking events, skill-building, and art activities.
The tutoring program is an on-going program for youth in the community to receive one-on-one tutoring with a variety of academic subjects with a paired tutor. The tutoring program will also operate in part with the mentorship program.
Field trips for youth in the community, organized and led by Athletes Combating Racism leaders and mentors. The goal is to provide an opportunity for youth to have fun and to get accustomed to the idea of embracing new experiences.
